Welcome to Vale Cemetery

vale_entrance001_0_0.jpgVale Cemetery, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, is a 100-acre cemetery within a park in the heart of Schenectady, NY.

The final resting place of 33,000 souls, Vale still has a wide selection of beautiful resting places for the next two centuries.

Regularly patrolled by the Schenectady Police Department, the Auxiliary Police, and Neighborhood Watch, Vale Cemetery is a serene garden oasis in the heart of the city.

All access points are under 24-hour monitored video surveillance to ensure your safety and peace of mind.

Many of the city’s most notable citizens are interred here: industrialists, inventors, politicians, military veterans, and religious leaders. The annual tours, however, take note of all citizens from the celebrity to the indigent. The plots of the nameless, buried in a Potter’s Field, are given the same attentive dignity as those of the well-to-do.

Vale Cemetery is also a living memorial to our area’s history and culture. With special events throughout the year, Vale welcomes anyone who has an interest in preserving the heritage of this unique region.

Tours, workshops and special events are planned throughout the year and we invite you to visit and get to know Vale.
